General Information

The Summer School addresses PhD students and young researchers and will afford an opportunity for establishment of scientific and personal contacts between the participants. The fellows of the Initial Training Network LOTHERM will present their work in a poster session. Participation is by invitation only. Please contact m.malkoc@ifw-dresden.de.

Registration & Fees

A registration fee of 50 EUR is charged for participants from outside the LOTHERM network to cover the costs of all coffee breaks and the BBQ on June 27th. Participation is by invitation only.

Travel Information

The workshop will be held at the Leibniz-Institut für Festkörper- und Werkstoffforschung (IFW) Dresden, Helmholtzstr. 20 in 01069 Dresden, Germany.

How to reach the IFW Dresden:

By air:
From the Dresden International Airport Klotzsche take the city train (S-Bahn, downstairs) S2 in the direction of "Pirna or Heidenau or Dresden Hauptbahnhof" to the station "Dresden Hauptbahnhof". From station "Dresden Hauptbahnhof" take the bus line 66 (direction: Dresden Mockritz). Get off the bus at station "Mommsenstrasse" (it takes about 5 minutes). After a walk of 8 minutes (map) you reach the IFW.

The taxi fare from the airport to the IFW Dresden is about 25 Euros.

The taxi fare from the airport to the IBIS hotel is about 22 Euros.

By train from Main station "Dresden Hauptbahnhof":
Take the tram line 3 or 8 (Direction: Coschütz or Südvorstadt) at the station "Dresden Hauptbahnhof Nord". Get off the tram at station "Nürnbergerplatz" (it takes about 5 minutes). After a walk of 10 minutes (map) you reach the IFW Dresden.

The taxi fare from the Main station to the IFW Dresden is about 8 Euros.

From the IBIS hotel, Prager Str. 9 in 01069 Dresden:
Take the tram line 3 or 8 (Direction: Coschütz or Südvorstadt) at the station "Walpurgisstrasse" (map). Get off the tram at station "Nürnbergerplatz" (it takes about 5 minutes). After a walk of 10 minutes (map) you reach the IFW Dresden.

The taxi fare from the IBIS hotel to the IFW Dresden is about 8 Euros.

Please note that you need valid transportation tickets for travelling around Dresden.

Single trip (2,00 €)

With a single ticket at fare stage 1 you can use all routes in the Dresden tariff for maximum 1 hour. Within this validation you can change from one vehicle to another as often as you like. Single tickets are available from machines at many stations and in the trams and busses.

4-trip card (7,00 €)

You can buy one ticket containing four single trips and save on the single trip price. 4-trip cards are available from machines at many stations, from the bus driver but not in the trams.
